I recently just brewed Northern Brewer's Smashed Pumpkin extract kit. I want to get more pumpkin flavor into it. How much pumpkin spice should I put in? Another teaspoon? And when? Racking to secondary or on bottling day?

Thank you.

I recently brewed the same recipe and did both. I added an extra teaspoon and a 4 inch cinnamon stick when I racked to secondary. Then I also added 1/4 teaspoon when I bottled. Smells and tastes pretty good!

I made a small tea of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and a clove. About a half tsp each of the ground spices. Simmered in a cup of water and added it at flameout. The spices seem to come out more over time. By the pumpkin spice ale contest day, mine had a dry spice finish that didn't set well with me. I am reducing the spices next batch (5 gal btw). Hope that helps, subtle is always better!
