Doing an fat tire clone extract kit with specialty grains tomorrow morning for the first time.
As per my kit directions, I plan to go the route of transferring my pre-crushed grains into a muslin sack, placing them in my pot, and turning the stove on high until my thermometer reaches 155, then maintaining this temp for about 30 minutes before removing from heat altogether... etc, etc...
My question: Does the amount of time it takes to go from 40 degree faucet temperature up to the desires 155 count toward my recommended 30 minutes of steeping time? When does the clock start ticking and for that matter, what added value comes out of not just waiting until it hits 155, then dropping my grain bag in?
Thanks for the support.
