Just curious,

When does everyone "flavor" their cider?

I plan on making a raspberry apple cider, but I initially read that adding it to a primary fermentation vessel would cause a massive loss in flavor, so I decided I would toss it into my secondary.

I bought some raspberry puree from midwest supplies, I thought I could toss it in the secondary, but I have no clue how long it should stay in there (knowing that it will start fermenting the sugar from the puree).

Thoughts?

I recently did a raspberry cider but with frozen fruit. I added at both stages, but doubled the amount I put in secondary. However, even when racking I could taste and smell the berries. With purée, I'm guessing you'll lose more of the raspberry taste during ferm then I did. Good luck!
