Hey homebrew talk this is my first post and I'm looking for some help/direction. This is my first year growing hops and I started with 4 rhizomes. Each one ended up breaking ground and I think did pretty well. My main questions at this point are when should I pick them and then do I try them out and freeze them? if so what is the best way for me to do that? I have attached some pictures. If you need more let me know.

When they get dry and papery, are stick with yellow resin and when you split one in half are full of lupulin, it's time to pick and dry. I always figure later is better than earlier. When mine are almost ready, I prepare to do a Harvest IPA, and use fresh hops in it. Wonderful.

Those are all too early to harvest visually. What cyclman said. You'll know more by eye as you are more experienced. What the tips start to brown, and they're crunchy papery, like squeezing a napkin.

I know it's kind of hard to tell just from a photo, but what do you ask think about these hops I harvested over the weekend? Do they look ready to you? Second year cascades.

And one more photo for good measure since those two look quite different imo

Those look very similar to my second year cascades as well. Haven't harvested mine yet but think those look good to me. Hopefully a more seasoned grower can respond so that I can harvest as well if needed.
