so i was wondering shoudl i leave the cover of the pot on or off when im cool the beer off in the ice water bath?

It'll probably cool faster with no top, but because in paranoid and cool in the bathroom I leave the top on just to make me feel better

I've never kept it covered. I think it cools faster when you have the wort and ice bath moving to help keep cold in contact with hot. It's hard to stir when covered.

Leave the cover on. It may cool faster but it keeps wild yeast and bacteria from falling in your beer. From the time you turn the burner off till the time you pour it in your glass, try to keep it covered and contaminant free.
