What style of homebrew got you hooked on this hobby? What did you call it?

Mine was a simple pale ale. My first HB that tasted really good.

I am going to remake it and call it Rubiconian Ale.

Anyway, I'm a beginner on my third batch. 1st batch--nevermind--my second batch was my rubicon, an English Brown Ale. It is bottled now and in its first week of conditioning, but I'm hooked already. I tasted it when racking to secondary, and again when bottling, and it tastes great even without the carbonation. Can't wait for it to be completely conditioned!

I could of easily picked my #2 beer. It was a vienna style lager however it was made with ale yeast. I was really impressed on how good it tasted after 3 weeks in the bottle. I really was hooked on my number one after I drank some at about 2 months. The difference in taste from 1 month vs 2 was what set the hook in me.

I've not achieved "Rubicon" status yet.

I've been extremely happy with some of my beers but I'm still chasing the Holy Grail I believe.

You have to have had a Rubicon! It was one of your first beers or one of your buddies brews. Its the beer that got you addicted to the hobby!!

I believe you are thinking of an ultimate session beer. I don't have a House or Session beer yet. I have yet to make the same one twice. I may eventually have one with my home grown hops.

Don't agree. I didn't have a Rubicon either. Just decided to start brewing, without having ever had a homebrew.

Stout clone here it was first batch it wasn't bad or great but my first allgrain was a golden ale I called ******, it was high in alcohol and if you drank 2 of them you would end up wearing your ass for a hat.

Well, can't say any one batch in particular finalized my addiction to this hobby. However, the Double IPA I just bottled yesterday definitely helped. Perfectly clear, tasted great and was very hoppy (as it should be). I hadn't been all that pleased with the hop profiles of the previous batches. Glad this one turned out like it should have.

Rubicon as point of no return, what beer got you from being a strictly BMC drinker to a homebrew drinker. "The conversion beer"

I assume many people start out making a beer that's OK or drinkable, not necessarily the best. You might have questioned whether it was worth the effort. The Rubicon as being the first one that descent or the one solidified your opinion of the hobby. That's all.

Some one who doesn't make a Rubicon is one who make two or three batches and quits the hobby. They think it tastes aweful and not worth the effort.

The older-more experienced members here have reached that point or they wouldn't still be doing this.

Its just a thing I made up. - I thought would be interesting to hear what others thought as their first "memorable" good beer. In contrast to something so so or aweful.

My first beer was my "Rubicon." I did a Northern Brewer Extra Pale Ale kit and it was excellent. I haven't had a bad tasting beer yet after all necessary conditioning and ageing has been done.
