Midway through a 60-minute mash here in snowy Ohio this morning. Trying to find the perfect tunes to cue up for the rest of the brew day.

Currently: Pink Floyd

Suggestions? What are your favorites for brew day?

Turn your TV on really loud and tune it to a channel with no reception. One with snow and static.

that is what I listen to when brewing.

Hmmm. Metal -- I think maybe a bit later. Too early for me.

Dylan -- yeah. I'll throw some into the mix. But NOT his newly released Christmas Carols. Wow -- those are bad! :)

As for the TV static. Wow. Not sure what to say about that.

Keep the suggestions coming!

I can hook my mp3 player up to an amp in the garage, and I mounted speakers up in the rafters. I have a special garage mix that I play whenever I'm brewing or tinkering out there. Sabbath, Floyd, Primus, Tool, Opeth, Led Zep... I like the loud stuff when I'm in the garage.

I like listening to Carstairs Kitchen Radio podcasts of Tune time with Terra.
Or if I'm not in a musical mood, I listen to James Spencer's Basic Brewing podcasts.

+1 on the Primus.

Oh got you all beat!!!

I brew to a constant soundtrack of SWMBO going "HOW MUCH LONGER??" and if my kids are there there is a masterfully interspersed score of them trying to kill each other.

;)

That's hilarious! And, exactly the reason I take a day off from work to brew. Wife at work, kids at school/daycare.

I usually listen to NPR (not music but the interviews and news shows) or jazz.

OK -- now I've got the iTunes running on the laptop and running through the stereo in the next room. Shuffling for now, but I've cued up some Primus, Chickenfoot, and Zeppelin.

Mattmcl: your setup in Erie sounds pretty sweet! If only I had a garage -- I'm confined to kitchen for now.

Nice to have a couple of Coloradoans -- I grew up in CO myself (Broomfield) and I miss it so much! Hoping to get back there soon...

I can't imagine trying to brew with kids running around! I would go crazy. :drunk: Or maybe I'd just drink more.

And I'm lucky -- my SWMBO is very understanding about my brew days. :mug:

I go through phases of listening to the same band over and over for the week. This week it's the White Stripes.

I sometimes hear the same thing, except the variation goes like this:

"Ughh that stuff stinks." Then the eyes roll.

This seems familiar... have we played this game before?

Anything from country to big band to old school metal to pop punk.

I don't listen to classical music or gangsta rap. Otherwise, anything between those two extremes is game.

Depends on what type of mood I am in. Typically I listen to hip-hop (Atmosphere, Sage Francis, Binary Star, etc), or Blues (Lightning Hopkins, SRV, Doyle Bramhall 2nd, Clapton, Buddy Guy, even throw some of Mayers blues in there), Some instrumental finger style acoustic stuff like Antoine Dufour, Andy McKee or Don Ross, Tommy Emmanuel etc.

Vassar Clements, Clarence White, Roland White, Lead Belly, Red Clay Ramblers, Almond Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Neil young, Stones, The Who, The Band, Hell, play my own guitar, can't be wrong, right?

Usually I listen to 104.5 KMCQ. A Classic Rock station out of Covington, a suburb of Seattle (60's, 70's & 80's), but I also have an account with Rhapsody so I can listen to any of my favorite artists or a mix. Right now I am listening to Gaelic Storm, a California based celtic group. They did the music for Titanic.

Am talk radio. That what us old geezers listen to.

Do you also check the obituaries before brewing to make sure you're not dead yet? :D
hah my grandpa used to do that every morning before breakfast. It was very funny. Not anymore though. Kind of ironic. The day he's finally in it is the only day he doesn't get to check. :(
