Is this mold or yeast?

It had a fairly active fermentation, should I still keg it? I'm trying to cold crash it and see what happens.

It looks like a pellicle is forming and that means its infected

dont cold crash until its done fermenting, it could turn out ok.

So it's at ending gravity and ready to go. I was actually going to keg tomorrow. My one thought is to go heavy on star san and leave some bubbles and perhaps don't try and get every drop.

This is only my second batch so this is def a learning experience on sanitation.

Any further advice is much appreciated from everyone. I don't think I want to give up on it just not sure the best approach to take to try and salvage what I can.

Did you taste your sample that you used for the gravity reading?

just rack under the top and you should be fine. I dont know if racking it into the keg/lines and all will get infected from whatever is in your beer. My assumption is that the bacteria could transfer to your kegging equipment.

Looks like a lactobacillus infection to me...at least it looks very similar to the pellicles in my sours where I intentionally introduced lactobacillus. If it's in there, it's in there and it's too late to try to sanitize now. That doesn't mean it won't taste good, it just means it may not taste as intended. Skip going heavy on the star san, especially if by "heavy" you mean using a more highly concentrated mix.

Update: So it tasted good. Nice balanced hop flavor. I wasn't picking up much of the coriander we added tho.

I talked to the guys at homebrew heaven, luckily I live about 10min away from their physical store which is nice to have.

They said most likely it's from our local water. They said they see it with certain yeast strains if you use the local tap water. They recommended using better water if it was super concerned.

I just kegged it leaving the top part intact and we'll drink it quick like and move on to the next brew.

I'll post some pictures once it's carb'ed and a bit of a review.
