In A Beer Contest, What Temperature Should The Beer Be For Judging? I Like Room Temp Ales Or Chilled In The Ref. Ale. What Is The Standard? M&m

The standard judging procedure is to smell and taste twice. Once when the beer is first served and again when it's warmed up.

We typically keep the beers in a cooler and bring them out one by one. We take the cap off carefully, pour the judging sample, and return them to the cooler. It's the best way we can think of to give them all an equal start. Of course, we can let them warm up in the judging glass. With just a few ounces in there, that happens fairly quickly.
