I have had the same regulator (TapRite series 740) for years. I always assumed that this piece that came with my regulator was a check valve, but now that I took it off and looked at it closely, I realized that I don't know why it's on there. It has a spring-loaded button that releases pressure. Do I need this on there?
Now I am wanting to add a T so that I can use a second line to transfer from primary fermenting kegs. I'm having some difficulty because most of my fittings are 1/4", but the out side of my shutoff valve is 3/8". I'm trying to avoid spending so much on the fittings, because it seems like they can easily add up to the price of a new regulator. If I swap out my existing shutoff valve (1/4" male to 3/8" female), I can avoid the need for adapters. I'm probably overthinking all of this, but what is the simplest and least expensive way to do this? Most of the shutoff valves I see online are barb fittings, and I need 1/4" on each side.
Thanks
