What is the point of this

What is the point of having the beer line going from a small beer line to a large diameter beer line. Basically why do they include the things mounted above the regulators in this?

They aren't changing diameters. All the beers lines there are 3/8'. Looks like just a union to help organize.

I guess I'm confused by your question. The beer never touches the regulators.

Sorry for the confusion. I am asking what is the point of the things mounted on the top of the stainless steel sheet. If i just run the gas lines right from the regulator to the keg what are those other things mounted up top for?

I expect it is to facilitate inline cleaning. And to provide for another means of fitting variable distribution devices.
