Just like it says....

I use the default Barley Crusher gap which is .035", after my brew session my element has quite a bit of flour on it and close to burning on the ends.
I stir with a motor during the mash and the ramp up to boil.

So I was wondering what gap you all use for EBIAB only.

thanks haeffnkr

I'm using 0.030". No reason except that's what I initially set it at. Get good results so I don't want to mess with the system. I'm doing recirc eBIAB too. I use a boil coil though not one of the hot water heater elements. Don't know if that makes a difference.

I have a Schmidling Malt Mill with a fixed gap of 0.045". I run grain through it once. Despite common wisdom, I get 78-85% mash efficiency with small batch BIAB.

I did have a problem with my element getting scorched, now what i do is put the grains in the bag and give it a few shakes to get out the really fine powder stuff, then I dump the grains into another bucket, put the bag in the kettle and add the grains at the appropriate time. Getting rid of the really fine particulate took care of the problem.

I just got a crusher a couple weeks ago and set it @ .030" and have used it twice I'm thinking of loosening it up for todays grind cordless has a hard time gettin it goin

What element do you use?

No element here--open flame--bet the flour can make those elements kinda crusty--@ .030" you could make a loaf of bread with this one I got at AIH think I'll set it between .o35" .039" and call it good--
