so when i found out early in March i was going to be a first time grandparent , i brewed up a Maerzen/Oktoberfest so it would be ready to drink upon her birth, btw,it happened sept 15th, her name is Evelyn and shes just beautiful.. and for the first time doing so , once it was bottled and aged a bit in the basement, it went sour on me...i dont know why or how. all of 2 1/2 cases ,bottled with fancy caps and everything. I'm thinking about distilling it and at least get the alcohol off of it. or should i just dump it.

I tossed my Marzen in the swamp behind my house. Not sure what went wrong. Astrigent, weedy. Doing a lot of research to find out where I screwed up.

Congrats on the new baby.

If I have a bad batch, I dump it down the drain as an offering to the beer gods. No use wasting time on a beer that's not want you wanted. Congrats on your first grandchild! My first grandchild was born on September 7th, also a girl named Sienna. Nobody tells you how having a grandchild becomes an instantaneous infatuation do they? Find myself craving to see her and just staring at her pictures when she's not around! 😍

As Deadalus mentioned, it's great slug bait for the garden and such. I'm actually going to put some beer out this afternoon after I found tons of slugs on my horseradish leaves yesterday.

Life is too short to drink bad beer. We're not garbage disposals. I wouldn't eat moldy food simply because I'd paid money for it at one point. Homebrewing isn't so expensive that I feel bad about tossing a batch if necessary. Count it as a loss and move on.
