I'm sure some of the folks here actually brew beer for a living, but what about the rest of us poor schmucks? I'm just out of college and I'm a certified music teacher (though the job market has me substitute teaching at the moment). I play trumpet, guitar, bass, piano, and drums. I'm also really into food and cooking (worked in kitchens since I was 16), photography, and I'm a big fan of British sci-fi, particulary Doctor Who and Torchwood.

these are a few of my favorite things

I enjoy studying language. My family came from Germany a long time ago, so I speak English/German, and I'm studying Chinese (Mandarin), and Arabic. I enjoy hiking, fishing, playing jazz bass, traveling, etc.

my biggest time consumer is softball. We travel the state and midwest, playing 150+ games a year. For N/C Indiana, that's pretty good, considering 3-4months of the winter are spent away from playing. I avg. about 5-7 games a week, depending. Plus a few days of BP in between.

In the Orange. After a 3 Run Knock (actually my longest of the year).

I play a bit of guitar and also have a 69 Mustang that needs restoring, but Homebrewing has pretty muhc completley taken center stage of my hobbies.

I WOULD like to understand how music works a bit better though. You know what scales go with what chord progressions, etc. I have tried to read up on music theory, but so far everything I've read up on hasn't produced a creative response.

Ski-backcountry, telemark, some alpine
Mountain bike-mostly XC
I go to see a lot of live music
Hike with my dogs

Right there with you, so I just play and sing, and enjoy the spiritual aspects of that.... Which through most of human history is how it has always been done... Even the animal kingdom does it that way...

But yeah, I would like to understand more of the science/math behind the music... But that takes 'work'.. I hate work!
:mug:
