NY steak cooked in a cast iron skillet heated to 450° on the grill. Pre-Seasoned with coarse kosher sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper. Copious amounts of mushrooms sauted in butter and a baked tater on the side.
Pinot Noir for my bride and Lagunitas Imperial Stout for myself.

Sorry no pictures it was dark and around 25° out when I cooked.

Dill pickle soup. Strangest recipe in the world yet it works. I've been doing a Nurse Practitioner student rotation this semester and finally decided to make the recipe my Nurse Midwife preceptor has been touting all semester.

(This is where the choir goes 'Ameeeeennn!!!')

Gawd dammm that was good. Weird as hell but dammmm good.

Beautiful pastas everyone, and yeastie enjoyed the cookie. Brewbama was curious about how the chicken ended up. Nothing to inspiring here. Still loving huge pots of rice. Took some photos of pcooker rice. Three parts rice to 3 3/4 parts water. 1.5 tbsp salt and 2 tbsp butter. 15 minutes at highest psi and near 8 qts of perfectly cooked rice. My mexican friends have been talking about how burritos should be everything inside. Like qdoba and Chipotle. Been eating lots of these. Tonight made red sauce from powder by making roux with sauteed garlic, cumin, salt, water, chicken boullion, pinch of oregano, and red enchilada sauce powder. That made the burritos so good. Made some sugar cookies and tried to use reinforced ziplock bag with Scotch tape because I don't have a pastry bag. Didn't go very well and I rushed the job anyways. Then heated up frosting to flood it with. Anyways only had Halloween food coloring and I put in Orange thinking it was red. Was like oh no that's not Christmasy and put in green. Yeah that made puke color. So then I added some more green and it made diarrhea color. Was like oh no I can't have diarrhea what about black and yep that made little army dreidels that look like hand grenades. Experimented around with the other ones while kids threw on the toppings. My three-year-old and i made the sugar cookies. My 5 yo and i dipped pretzel rods in chocolate and poured toppings on. The are nice. No picture but they looked cool like these. Looking forward to making a citrus turkey on christmas eve. Happy holidays.

So what is in the Dill Pickle Soup? I eat dill pickles all the time. Not sure I want them in my soup though?!!?!

It's just a simple chicken soup with a chopped potato and carrots with a cup of chopped dill pickles and two cups of pickle juice. I used the masher to mash the potatoes a bit (didn't feel like crawling around on my hands and knees searching for the stick blender) and put a dollop of sour cream on top. It was even better two days later.

For some reason I can't stop thinking about the soup. Then my wife brought home some kosher Dills which she never buys. Seems like it's Destiny now.

Offered up as a public service note to my friends.

Going to Wegman's Christmas Eve Eve, after not eating a thing all day..... Rookie mistake.

Very, very expensive rookie mistake.

I dropped a mortgage payment for take out supper for two last night.

I don't even LIKE kale. Why did I pay $6 for raw kale salad?

Learn, kids. Learn.

Cracked Dungeness crab with homemade cocktail sauce (made with homemade SF ketchup), steamed artichokes with Fancy Sauce (half mayo, half homemade SF ketcup, squirt of Sriracha), garlic parmesan bread, and some nice Gloria Ferrer champagne.
