What did I cook this weekend.....

Had a lunch of tuna salad, after knocking out 4 pints of peach salsa. So now I have wild (foraged) muscadine grape jelly, crab apple jelly and the peach salsa to enter into competition at next month's NC State Fair.

I grew up eating boiled potatoes. Why aren't I skinny?

Perfectly pan seared bone in veal rib chops (crust was amazing), topped with balsamic mushrooms (acid) sides of sautéed spinach (spice - I use red pepper flake) and oven roasted new potatoes (sweet). Perfect balance of meat, heat, sweet and tang.

For those of you that make salsa, smoke your veggies!!! My buddy has made a few batches recently where we smoked his peppers, etc, for three hours and its easily the best salsa i have ever had. Incredible!

Kid is home sick. Her birthday yesterday and we were too busy to do much.

She requested Zuppa Toscana (ala olive garden) for her birthday meal. I may go home early to get some things done and spend time with her and make her that soup. It's what everyone in my family requests on their birthday.

I know, never criticize how someone else lines their food. But I love fish tacos and to me, cheese has no place on the table. It's like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
