What did I make? I was brewing a Negra Modelo clone from the Clonebrews book and using some WLP 800 Pilsner lager yeast in a 2.5L starter. Unfortunately Murphy's law intervened and the Erlenmeyer flask containing the starter fell off the dryer where it had been sitting for the last 18 hours and was lost as an offering to the brew gods, plus it made a huge unholy mess in the laundry room.

Since this happened only about an hour before I was going to pitch yeast and I didn't have any more lager yeast to use I took 4 quart jars out of the fridge which had each about 1/2 inch of saved Wyeast 1056 Cali ale yeast in them. I warmed them up and pitched all four, two into each fermenter.

I am not quite sure what style I ended up brewing though with this combination of a Vienna lager grain bill and a California ale yeast.

After doing some additional research I may have made a dark Octoberfest ale or depending on how cleanly the 1056 ferments, a close clone to actual Negra Modelo.
