I'm building a 4500W/5700W RIMS/BK system using one of PJ's wiring setups and am wondering what to do for the main supply chord from the 50A GFCI spa panel to my control box. PJ's diagram uses 4-wire. I bought some 6 AWG SJOOW wire from ebrewsupply, but haven't yet found a 4-wire plug rated above 30A yet. Any advice appreciated.

Plug into the panel? EBrewSupply sells a Hubbell plug that is good for the amperage. Your standard nema twist locks are only up to 30 amps.

For a plug into the wall check out a nema 15-50r.

I haven't found a need for twist-lock power connectors. The readily-available dryer and oven plugs and receptacles have a very firm grip when plugged in. It takes a very firm effort to get them apart. My 50a system uses three styles of plugs and receptacles so that I always know which plug goes where.

I prefer to always physically disconnect equipment when working on it, so these plugs get used frequently. No problems.

if your control panel is only setup to fire one element at a time you only need a 30A connection from the gfci to the brew panel. I hardwired mine.
