I'm planning on entering a few beers in a local competition and I'm not sure what to enter 2 of them as.

one is a maple barleywine brewed with sap and syrup and the other is an oatmeal coffee stout.

I usually get hit a few points on beers like these because I enter them in the wrong(or not the best) category so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The maple barleywine would probably fall well in 31B. Alternative Sugar Beer and the oatmeal coffee stout in 30A. Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer. In the past Ive scored well on chocolate stouts Ive entered in the specialty category but seeing as how FBS is a listed example for 30A thats likely the best place for those types of variants.
