Hi all -

Brand new brewer here, have a gallon of JAOM going right now and just finished my first cider made from apples from my backyard tree...(didn't know what I was doing, used1118 and ended up with Apple Wine that was somehow delicious and packed a serious punch!)

Anyway - I have several family events coming up for Thanksgiving and Christmas and I would love to be able to take a few bottles of something I made. Any ideas on some recipes that I could start now that might be ready and drinkable within 2-3 months?

Anything with a holiday type theme would be ideal, but since I'm just now getting started I'd settle for anything that's drinkable.

Thanks!

I have a few bottles of JAOM that I just finished up, hopefully they'll be tasty by Thanksgiving. But I really need to score some juice from the local orchard and get my butt in gear for a good batch of classic cider.

I'll just make a ton of "apple pie" again, since all the fermenting is done for me.

1 gal apple cider
1 gal apple juice
5-6 cinnamon sticks
1.5 cups sugar
.25 cup brown sugar
1 liter everclear

Bring everything but the everclear to a boil, cool juice mixture to room temp, add everclear.

Pour in jars with a cinnamon stick and a couple apple slices.

Easy stuff, but always a big hit.

I've got a cranberry wine (might add lime zest for flavor at backsweetening) that I'm hoping will be ready by Thanksgiving, but it doesn't look too promising.

I might throw together a holiday ale this year, we'll see. James Spencer had a recipe for a holiday barleywine that looked pretty good but it's probably too late in the year for that.
