Alright folks, no one I know IRL has the answer so im asking you all: going to a. Wedding next weekend with my GF. Gonna be a groomsman (tux rental) and staying 2 nights at the hotel - was planning on paying for the wedding dinner (cash gift), is a gift on top customary if I'm in the wedding party?

I'd say no. In fact, I thought a little gift to the groomsmen and bridesmaids was customary. Note, never been in any wedding but my mom's and I hate weddings.

Waiting for auto-tune to finish so I can refill my glass and then test the boil kettle for leaks.

Oh and if I chill my wort to 80F and stick it in a ferm chamber to chill the rest of the way, is there a huge risk of infection? Trying to sort of plan for how it could go with chilling for the first time without ice water. I know, newbie question.

That's how I have been getting down to pitch temp this summer, much easier.
Cool as low as it will go, aerate, in to chamber.
Allway willing to help out a noobi.:p

I no chill for up to 10 hrs in my BK... Never had an infection. It'll be fine.

hmmm... ok. Anyone else? This guy is a good college buddy and we work in the same field, but he's marrying a Pharmacist (talk about earning power) - don't wanna seem cheap but as-is its looking like this is running me about $1k+. Man, I'm going to do a simple affair if mine won't elope.

Also - you'll be fine as long as your carboy is sanitized (or if you leave it in your boil kettle) - people do no chill which is even sketchier.

Edit: Spilled half that Weisee (grumble grumble, top heavy glass)

Why not just give them some home brew?

I'd agree you don't need to. Covering the wedding dinner is really nice and I doubt your friend is judging you on this. This is totally the kind of thing i stress about, so I would also get a nice card and perhaps a decent bottle of champagne.

Drinking nothing. Waiting in line for beer. Sigh.

Pull of cream ale before SWMBO drives my to paradise.

Keg is light. Standard. Brew day is over with.

But I thought people used some special container. That's good to know. BTW, to answer your earlier question about what my first brew will be, it's going to be a SMaSH APA. 2-row and Zythos hops. Think I may start today and just do the football draft from my iPad.

Haha thank you. I'm likely going to do that just to avoid the aquarium pump and ice water setup.

Auto tuning the other PID. Didn't think about it first and went to dick around inside.

Stellar, appreciate the input.

Having an all day and tackling the car interior. Always do the interior first so you can give it your best effort. That way if your run out of steam you're likely just passing on a wax job.

I agree with blizzard. Put yourself in his shoes and I'm sure he's aware of your expenses. He'd probably not want you to do anything above what you are already doing. And yeah...special brew session would be awesome.

Some do... I only let it sit in the BK so long because I use glass carboys and don't want to risk a break from thermal shock. If you use the HDPE buckets you can dump the hot wort in right away and let it chill in there.

But there's nothing living in the BK after flameout and sticking the lid on.
