To elaborate on this... if you show up in red bottoms and a cocktail dress for a fishing date, it probably won't end well.

Just comment on how huge his boat is.

This. It's the biggest boat you've ever been on. Not sure how you're going to handle all this boat. Do you have to buy a special slip for your boat?

He's probably aiming for a unique experience for a first date. That's a pretty decent idea...to do something different, semi-private where you can both still talk to each other yet do your own thing. Kudos to that guy.

If the it's going poorly, this might save it. If it doesn't he's dead inside and not worth your time.

Unless what he meant by fishing was whipping out the ol' trouser trout.

On topic: protein shake.
New kitchen faucet is installed.

He's alive and well. Talked to him the other day.
.
Then why has he left us?

Don't do fake girly ****. Be yourself. That being said, no man that likes fishing is going to think of a woman that goes fishing as a buddy and nothing more, unless he's not into women or he's already got one.

Coff.
I was really kidding. That fake girly crap doesn't ever work for me. In fact, it makes me look socially awkward and it results in nothing good coming from it.
I had a weird thought suddenly that it could just turn into a buddy thing. I have buddies...;)

It's better than a movie date especially if you both enjoy it. I never understood why people go on dates to the movie so you can sit in the dark and not be able to speak to each other.
I hate movie dates. They're pointless, they don't really tell you much about the person, and there's always awkwardness afterward.
Wait, did he ask you on a fishing date or is it your idea? I like the non normal dates. Pretty much anything where you can talk and learn each others personalities is good in my book.

Something to keep in mind though. Would this be boat or dock fishing? The last thing I would want is to be stuck in a boat with a bad date. Also, would you be the one stocking the cooler or is that his job?
He asked me. He just asked if I wanted to meet up and go fishing. We have been talking about fishing, camping and kayaking for days and I've been looking at angler kayaks. He asked me yesterday but I had dinner plans. I'm not 100% we're meeting today, but I do know he has plans tonight so it won't go into dinner. I hope it's dock fishing. I'm with you on the boat deal.
This. It will give you time to get to know each other really well immediately... which is definitely a positive. First date for a drink or something usually doesn't last that long.

I went to a concert once upon a time with a girl for our second date. It was a music festival and we got there at about 2 PM. Zac Brown didn't go on until about 8 PM. There was a long time for us to get to know each other. Pretty much knew after that it wasn't going to work out... so we didn't have to invest any more time dating.

On topic: Drinking water. Made bacon in the oven with breakfast today. Man, that's so easy and came out perfect.
That's a good point. I can basically hang for a couple of hours and be on my best behavior, but I believe that something like fishing will give both of us a good idea of who we are.
Is he drop dead gorgeous or geeksquad? As long as you both enjoy fishing, sounds fine to me... unless he is taking you out to some super remote location. I've had much more awkward first dates. If it was his idea to go, you're off the hook for dressing up. That was his bad. Good luck.
He's attractive. He is off the hook for me dressing up forever. I will, but I generally do not. I would have made the effort if he asked to meet for drinks or something, but I usually work into the convo that I don't normally dress that way. First dates and how women act and dress can be so misleading to men. I hate that.
it is what you make it...

just dont fart
LOL I will try not to.

Not a bad idea. Allows it to be a little more laid back, not super awkward staring at each other from across a dinner table. Sounds like a good time.

Just don't out fish him ;)
Oh no worries about out fishing him at all. :D I barely accomplish rigging my own bait.

LOL well his boat is bigger than mine...or will be when I buy mine.

I agree. I was actually quite impressed but then my mind over-thought it and I was suddenly worried it would look like a friend zone thing.

I could think of a handful of things you could do to show him it's not a friend date.

Most of us who are married wouldn't be surprised at this statement.
Don't sweat it, have a good time and don't over think it.

@bucknuts would certainly not be into that. Think of how many germs would be transferred to the popcorn!

I would "assume" that the popcorn would not be what gets "eaten".

Today is Staff appreciation her at MS State, about to head over and enjoy BBQ and MA State ice cream and hope I win one of the door prizes.

Is one of them a Tesla coil?

No, your run of the mill items. Ms state gear, football tickets etc..

We have a lot of tour groups that come through here. Everyone always asked about our Tesla Coil, we did not have one. I purchased a table top one from Onetesla, I bought a complete package cheaper than I can build one. It uses PWM to modulate the frequency, interface to a computer and you can play midi files. It is pretty neat, but I am still working on getting the parts for a large Tesla coil.

You should have know that is going to happen. lol He is probably as nervous as you anyway

I did kind of. I didn't think there'd be so much response. ;)
We'll see if we meet up today or not. I assume it'll happen one day though.

Water. I'm sleepy and I want a nap.

I lol'ed so hard at this.

As one of the other women on here, I would say go for it. I agree not to go somewhere too remote or any of the serial killer hangout spots.

Also, I have never heard of a women getting put in the friend zone before. If you think it's happening, take off your shirt to make sure.

"Tonight on KRTV News (we're on your side), a local woman was arrested by Fish and Wildlife officials for being highly intoxicated while on a fishing trip and exposing herself to passersby. More on this at 11."

@mcbaumannerb I am so excited for you...and jealous.

Ugh! But I hope all goes well. You can drink this weekend, right? Will you be around because I want to give you something.

Coffee. I am exhausted because I'm an idiot who stayed up and drank last night. I was trying to kick a keg. I failed.

And since the audience here are pretty much all men, what is the consensus on a first date that involves fishing? Obviously it's not the most glamorous first date and it doesn't really give a lot of way to dressing nice, but does doing something like that on a first date up the risk of the dude just looking at the girl as a potential buddy and nothing more? I could try to girl it up and squeal a bit, or something at the sight of a worm.

I'm sure I'll catch **** for this, but I figured I'd ask. :D

Finally got some booch ready to drink...added a third to the rotation. I'll be around this weekend and can have a beer or three. Just none within 24 hours of early Tuesday. The time we went fishing, I think I got lucky and caught *one*? You were not lacking in ability...just wasn't much going on that day. And this:

Oddly enough, this will be the first night in two years my wife and I will have the whole night to ourselves. Our first idea of what we should do: sleep. As soon as we get home.
