Beer'd Brewing Ocean Breathes Salty Oyster Stout as I heat my strike water. First solo brew day since the shoulder surgery.

That beer sounds awesome. How is it? I'm tired of living around breweries with boring offerings.

On coff #2.

What's brewin'?

I won't be brewing for a while (I have too much beer). But it's snowing, which means I'll be drinking like a fish today.

Having OJ.

The problem is you live in a boring state. Wait, I do, too. Who's beer is better? @nukebrewer should be able to decide that for us as he is a Texan living in CT.

Holy **** I love Asheville. Had a kiwi sour at wicked weed that was amazing. Had a mosaic saison that was pants dropper awesome. Now at Burial and getting a flight of awesomeness.

Burial has cool ass bathrooms. Haha

Glad you're having fun!

I thought black velvet paintings has to be Elvis?!

D'oh! Now I have to go get a beer, I guess.

Happy Birthday! :mug:

Had my fill of coffee (no pic since @coldcrash is on vacation) and ran to the grocery store already. Snow is falling earlier than predicted so I postponed the den meeting. Now there is nor'easter I cant drink this afternoon! :)

The real problem is, I live in a boring area of a state that is way behind most other states in craft beer. Stupid laws here held things back for a long time. Also, I want to say only two breweries in the greater Houston area actually offer growler fills. And most breweries around here are afraid to get too creative with their beer. Texas is a great state to live in, but not the greatest craft beer state. But, we'll catch up eventually. I guess I should probably stop complaining and just brew more.

It's fairly decent. I've never had an oyster stout where I could tell there were oysters used in it, but it's definitely a well brewed beer.

My dilemma here is that relatively speaking, I've had beer from pretty much every CT brewery, but only a handful of TX breweries (and most of those from the Houston area), so my bias is towards CT. That bias is almost entirely driven by New England Brewing Company, though, so take that for what it's worth.

Just wait until I get back into town for good, haha! I'll be the Sam Calagione of Texas, only I will brew good beer, haha!

Finishing off the growlette (or howler or whatever you want to call it) of oyster stout. No pic cause I already took one.

I have had one - I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but it definitely had a distinctive flavour (in a good way). I'm not sure that the 'oyster' stouts produced by the big breweries over here actually have oysters in them any more, probably flavourings instead.

Half a pot of decaff down before breakfast. Almost beer time

Pollination Honey Saison special release with gooseberries. And a jazz brunch with gumbo.

Building up dreg cultures is hard work. Half way through the boil now. Havent calculated yet but efficiency was way higher than 80% like I predicted. Turbid mash seemed to go pretty dang well, hit all my temps no problem. Now I wait 18 months to see if it paid off. :D

Starbuck's Cappuccino...nasty day outside. Freezing rain. Roads are okay, but trees are getting coated. Just dreary. Errands to run shortly, with SWMBO. Meh. Birthday dinner at La Cucina later...have to see what beer they have; may resort to margaritas with my tacos al pastore.

Sounds good, jellious.:D

Happy birthday Matt!

A straggler, meh, not worthy of a picture.

Snowing.

So, you're going to brew a bunch of "ancient" beers and make them not taste like under attenuated sewer water? ;)

Nice work!

Having a Legend Brown Ale at Applebee's in the Richmond airport. Decent selection, surprisingly.

Wife's flight home was canceled today, rebooked on a much earlier flight. Scrambled to pack up, drove 2 hours in freezing rain, rental car caked with ice. She made it on the flight, but checked bags were late so they might not make it today. Now I have 5 hours until my flight to TX.

Happy birthday!

Just had lunch with my son, and now working on his pinewood derby car. Gonna get stuff ready to brew today in a little bit.

Having the pint of mixed fruit blonde I poured last night before I fell asleep.
