Did this beer really take a month and half to carb?! I seriously havent had any signs of carb this entire batch, not anything even when vigirously poured. This is the first one ive had that is carbed and the batch is over half gone! This might be a fluke brew but Im hoping the rest of them turn out like this O yeah, HB Brown!

This really isn't half bad. There is a light toastiness from the granola and the hop character, while subdued, is very pleasant with your typical piney/dank American hop character to it. Finishes semi-sweet but dry enough to accentuate the bitterness.

Question for group. Are Goose Island's Lolita, Juliet and Gillian worth the steep price tag? We just got some in the store today, but they are $19, $25 and $30 respectively. I'd like to try them, but it's hard to justify in the name of simply trying new beer. I'd like to have a relatively good assurance that they are good first.

I really enjoy Juliet, I don't remember the price here, but I thought it was well worth the price I paid. I'm not sure that helps you though

Juliet is a great brew I recommend it for sure I'll take one or two if you dont like ;-)

So the deal with goose island...

BMC distributes it. Goose island brews it. The brewery was struggling and they struck a deal with the devil. That's about all really, they are still brewing their own stuff. Some of the 6ers and kegs (honkers, IPA, etc) you see might have been taken over but their special releases (usually named after women) are just the same they have always been.

I'm not sure of the share split, I'm not sure anyone outside the brewery is, but from my understanding BMC is minority owner, they are the cash cow that has allowed goose island to expand their market massively.

I'm definitely supportive of this use of buds money, if they did more of this rather than muscling people out if the market, it would be a better world.

Drunkin Punkin. I only have two (including this one) cold so I can't get out of control like I did last night. I suppose I could if I really wanted to with two Brown Shuggas left also, but I don't think I'm going to let that happen tonight.

yeah it does. I have been using my priming sugar calculator from screwybrewer tho and I think that is the issue. The past couple brews have had zero carb at all. Its not bad to drink but is very annoying. I compared priming calculators and am using northerbrewers who seems to be on point with a lot of other ones, screwybrewers didnt match anybodies.

By chance, did you use a carb calculator? I had a Chocolate Rye Porter that took 6 months to carb up, first and last time I used a carb calc. The carb was still pretty poor on the last bottle of that batch (10 months).
