Condensation on the sight glass is an indication its getting too hot? The thermometer never felt too warm during the boil. Both the valve and glass were understandably hotter. Thought it was normal. Guess better safe than sorry. Ill order a heatshield tonight.

Condensation?! I was just thinking about placement. Your entire pot will get covered in condensation if it's a good day in America.

You should never see bubbles or any indication of boiling in your sight glass; yes it should be warm to the touch, but not burning. The level should be relatively still, compared to the insanity going on in your pot. Same with your therm: if you cant grab it for a few seconds, it's too hot.

Even with shielding, I can't turn my Blichmann burner up to max--it just puts out way too much BTU's and will nuke everything. You just have to find your medium.

Yup, getting it dialed. On draft and barrel version for releases. Guys went nuts for it at homebrew club, but they also said the dreaded g-word - grapefruit! Doesn't taste a damn thing like grapefruit!

I'm not getting any grapefruit, there is only a slight funk to it, more funk in the nose than in the taste. I'm getting the rhubarb, I'm getting some spice, and an excellent smooth mouthfeel.

And Wes if your orange juice tastes this good we should invest now

You definitely missed out. Here's some katahdin porn for ya. It's known for disappearing in the clouds. Sometimes when you are up there the visibility is less than 2 ft.

This is taken from my parents old house.

Thanks. Now we need to redo our entire vacation.

It's okay, certainly not great...

Ok wow you are definitely right about that. It was moving around a good amount and bubbles went into the glass occasionally. Even as low as i placed the sight glass it still doesnt show anything until slightly under the 3 gallon mark. I hope i didnt do too much damage today. Thanks for the info. Cheers

My rye saison. Much better now that the late hops have faded some, I was a little heavy handed but it's really starting to drink good now.

Just found some Double Dose. For some reason I didn't think I'd find it around here. Wish it was cold so I could enjoy right away.

Of course you don't get grapefruit, it doesn't taste like graperfruit and you know what rhubarb tastes like!

Haha. Just kidding. Or was I?

Send you more beer? That will shut you up? You're still beating the dead horse of bubblegum only you tasted in that saison, so I highly doubt it.

Well, it was worth a shot to get free beer.

Getting torpedoed. Put the last of last year's Brown Shugga in the fridge, but need to finish up a few projects before I get into that.

Shouldve brought the last of my autumnations on the road trip. Not driving and sitting in traffic is the perfect time for a roadie.

AllanH - get yer butt to 7vth Sun! from FB "A limited volume of Temerity Mortale on sale tonight - limit 4 per person. Belgian dark strong aged on Brettanomyces, Ghana and Ecuador cacao in a chocolate bourbon barrel. Round two goes on sale tomorrow at noon."

Wow that sentence describing the one beer sounds like you are describing 4 beers.
