Lil sump'in I ran across at a new location

Well, today I deserve a Helles. Actually I deserve about 5 of them. Why you ask? No, not because Beermeister32 has been a very good boy. Nope, today I’ve been wrestling with new router issues at work.

Since I need to be thrifty-minded to pay for the volumes of beer consumed around here, I have to economize in other areas. Today was the day we switch the router in the building from a hard-copper wired system over to a wireless router. If we didn’t comply, our single, one and only available phone/internet provider was going to jack up the amount to about $800 a month for a few lines and internet. The wireless is cheaper, like around $150. That buys a lot of beer!

So, arm twisted behind our backs, we finally concede to this customer abuse which we’ve been suffering through all year. We get the new system in and it is SLOWER than the hard-wired system. Company which shall not be named did a signal check from here to the tower, a mere 1066 feet away. Hey, didn’t the Norman invasion happen in 1066? I’m sure they were going for more than beer!

Upshot of all this is that there is a sub-standard wired connection around this tower. They’re sending out a techie to look at it tomorrow, like they haven’t already done that for others in the hundreds of other companies within the radius of this tower. Sadly, I broke my dear old Dad’s #1 rule. When will I ever learn…. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” His kind and funny voice echoes in my mind. Love ya Dad, Prost!

How dare you get me misty eyed about my Dear Old Dad and pissed off about the two steps forward and three steps back of "progress" at the same time.

Thank you.

Cheers!
Looks great. How did this turn out? Is it at all close to Julius? How close did you stick to the @DrGMG recipe? I know....a lot of questions, especially for a Monday night.

I had a TH King JJJuliussss a couple days ago. It was delicious!!

Tonight I’m doing a blender. It’s really interesting, when you take a flavorful beer like a Warsteiner Dunkel and blend it back with a flavor-neutral diet beer, Budweiser Zero, the stronger flavor still comes through nicely. Our taste thresholds are that way, we still taste the strong flavors. This turns out 4.8% ABV down to a 2.4% ABV drinkable brew. I’ve been in a meeting all afternoon, I just need something light right now but still flavorful.

I should be drinking big-time however. Yesterday’s router saga continued today with our phone carrier techie and then their area manager spending time in the Beermeister32 facilities. Yes that’s right, after getting the new wireless router with a transfer speed of 2.5 Gigabytes per second, you’d think that’s enough. Nope. Seems that the tower is handing a LOT of data from chumps like us - and it gets parceled out to the many users on the system. In a nutshell, it drops out and takes forever to load big files. S-L-O-W! Their recommendation: Go back to the copper wired system until we get fiber-optic at some point in the future. Like never.

So that’s where we are. Put the old server back in, zippy internet again and three hours arguing about it with the carrier over the phone. Luckily done by someone else around here. Ridiculous!

By the way, that’s darned important. We need good service to report back my daily beer escapades! Prost!

Last night in Siem Reap I drank this jewel in a little eatery there. They're supporting local businesses and people who need a second chance, donating all profits for kids education after paying the employees over average, and they served this local brew (founded after the pandemic lockdowns to give people a job in the brewery).
Beside the social spect ... it was very delicious. Crisp, low IBU, a little malty sweetness, and carbed to a refreshing sparkling. A decent citrus note like Galaxy or maybe Citra.
4.25$ (yes, USD... we mostly paid in USD in Cambodia, that was a surprise) was a kind of high price for this country for a drink, but it was worth it.
Cheers!

November has been a month. What did I drink this month?
A 6er of Three Floyd’s Zombie Dust (love it) while back in Indiana helping my mom move. 40 years worth of stuff to inventory and clean out while prepping for a sale.

Now I’m in DC and I actually took a picture of a beer. Marzen from Red Bear, which is delicious. I also really enjoyed their Italian pils.

What do you mean the month isn’t over yet?
