I bought this beer on a lark, primarily based on the funny label. Little did I know, this fantastic Pilsner is a 2024 World Beer Cup Silver Award winner! Great job Paperback Brewing Co., Glendale, California!

This is REALLY a fantastic Pilsner. Paperback is calling Capiche? an Italian Pilsner, I’m not sure where that is coming from, but it matches this hilarious label to a tee! 5.5% ABV, this has a bit more body (maybe THAT’S a reference to something else… !)

Anyway, the Mafia theme is a crack up, it does have more body than most and is hoppy like a Pilsner should be. Maybe a bit cloudier than most Pilsners, but with a tag line “It’s a Pilsner You Won’t Refuse” all I can say is Fuhgeddaboudit!

Go out and find this one while it is still on the shelves, it is worth it! Salute!

I've consumed a lot of NA beers. I find freshness REALLY makes a difference, especially with the "hoppy" styles.

Having said that Guinness 0 is by far my favorite NA beer. It's so close to the original it's crazy.

Agreed, Guinness was by far the closest to the real deal. I try and always keep it on hand. Here’s another one that I’ve been enjoying and does a fairly good job of recreating the original.

I’m sad to see Mellow Mink close down. I still have some more bottles from them. I guess I’ll either enjoy them soon or save and savor them.

HB Tango and Yuzu peel dry hopped imperial rice lager. I have crushed 2/3 of this keg in about 2 weeks, it's absolutely insanely delicious.

From a process and dialed-in-ness perspective it might be the "best made" beer I've ever produced. I've been jokingly referring to it as "ride-on mower beer" because at 7.4% if you have four in quick succession you won't be pushing anything except maybe rope.

I'll share the recipe tomorrow maybe.

Having one of the few HB amber ales left.

The Sticke Alt kicked yesterday, and I just have those ambers, and a few Baltic porters I'm saving. I have a batch of blonde ale conditioning, but those won't be ready for another week or two.

I will soon encounter a break in the pipeline. Oh noes! I might have to go buy some beer. I do have a few O-Fests and Guinness Extra Stouts in the fridge. I'll be brewing again this Sunday.

I hope I can survive the coming weeks.

As they say, “Life’s Simple Pleasures are the Best!” So it is with one of the world’s finest Pilsners, Ayinger Bavarian Pils. No doubt about it, I can be one dyed-in-the-wool Lagerhead. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the Ales out there too – sometimes though it is like a box of chocolates – all good, but which one do you chose? Today it’s Pilsner!

Ayinger has been cranking out top quality beers like this since 1878. A couple years ago I was proudly drinking the 500 ml size Ayinger Pils, now I can only find their Pils in the miniscule and baby-ish 11.2 ounce wimpified bottles. What gives? I feel like somebody hates us! More likely, the vendors are hoarding it all for their thirsty selves!

5.3% ABV, terrific taste and 1516 compliant, what more needs to be said? This is one of the finest Pilsners on the market, grab it when it’s available. Grab it ALL, then go over to the next town and clean out their supply, it’s THAT GOOD! Prost!
