We don’t hunt gophers, we just shoot them. We’re overrun with the little bastards. For some reason, the usual number of predators (foxes and coyotes, mostly) have been conspicuously absent the last few years. Since the gestation period of gophers is something like twelve days (I kid, but it seems that short) they multiply quite rapidly.

Willow is our gopher hunter.

We have an ever-changing number of semi-domesticated cats, which we feed just enough to keep around,
that keep the rodent population under control in our yard. The hay field to the east of the yard is where the gophers are so numerous. The cats don’t have to venture far from the yard because the pickings are pretty easy close to home.

Went camping this weekend down to the family property. No running water, no electricity & barely any cell service. It’s always fun, swimming, fishing, trail rides, shooting targets, cooking over a fire, etc…
Enjoyed the Sloop Bomb series variety pack, along with some other goodies. Brought a FotD bottle from @jerbrew which was enjoyed last night. Oh & some cherry moonshine my cousin made to share.

Both actually. Will be in Wilmington for half the trip and near Mt. Airy (Lowgap) for the other.
