You're just trying to get through to the Vienna Lager, ain't cha? Round here, they sell a semi-pi$$ poor excuse for a Vienna Lager called Yuengling ( vitamin Y to the locals ) but hey, it's hella better than Budweiser. Miller or Coors for the same price!
I like to think my Vienna lager is the :goat:.
I have a new yeast I’m going to try… hopefully it’s still great.
 
Tell me more... what yeast? I usually cheat and use Voss or Lutra and pitch @90F
I normally use dry 34/70 @ 55°. I’ve been chasing a flavor I taste in nearly all commercial German beers I’ve tried. After a little research, I’m going to give liquid Imperial L17 Harvest a try.

Heard good things about L17 .. I've done an Oktoberfest at almost RT with 34/70 and turned out really nice

You should do an exbeeriment and try a 90F pitch batch with dried Lutra sometime just to see if the cold fermentation is worth all that trouble .. I pitched Lutra in today's Shwartzbier at 90F about 5 hours ago and it's already "blorping"

I have not but it looks like Heaven. Aventinus is my absolute undisputed champion. I have not had more than 2 or 3 other Doppelbocks just because I love Aventinus so much. When I 1st went to Germany at the age of 19 it really put a spell on me. I could be in a store with 10 different Doppelbocks and I'd probably grab the Aventinus 99 out of 100 times 😂. I do the same with Chinese food.. decisions decisions and I always get sweet and sour pork. At 57, it's hard to teach an old brew dog new tricks! But that does look delicious !!

This is just a regular doppelbock but as good as any of the German ones I have had ... think Spaten Optimator
