I have a place down by my shop that I can grow hops. There is a north/south cement wall with poles sticking out of the top that would work great for attaching a line to. There is also free irrigation water. I was wondering if I grow hops on the west side of the wall with the line going up to the poles, would they get enough light? The wall is about 8-10 feet tall with 3-4 foot poles sticking up from there.

I would like to use this preexisting structure so i don't have to put any posts in. The ground is very fertile, it used to be a dairy farm and we've grown vegtables there before with great results.

Not the best arrangement, but you will get results. One of the LHBS in Portland has a planter full on the west side.
