Just got my certificate of assumed name for Hob Knob today! :mug: It's basically the first 'real' step we've taken towards becoming an actual brewery, and means that we've reserved our naming rights. Next up is the brewer's bond and notice with the TTB.

Also went and checked out a prospective commercial location for the brewery. :ban: Only 1200 sq ft, but the space was actually really nice and only $800 smackers a month.

I guess its fair to say I'm obsessed after only brewing for about a year, but I've never been one of those guys that does things half way. It's either got all my attention or none of it lol. The plan is to be operational by October.

Looking for a few suggestions:

The location we checked out is nice, but isn't ideal for any type of tastings or events. We could probably find a place where we could host events and have a tap room, but you're talking about at least a 50%-100% increase in the rent. Trying to keep costs at a minimum to start out with (since we have to have a commercial location), I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not? So should we go full on, or just start uber small and grow into it. I'll admit, I like the idea of a beer garten and event area, not to mention, having a tap room REALLY helps with name recognition. Both would help with the revenue stream as well. Not sure what the best route to take on that is.

Congratulations! It's awesome to see a homebrewer get after it professionally. Im taking your journey for inspiration!

A local small brewery that I love is very small. It's basically one room with their brewing equipment set up and a good amount of open space for quests to mingle and drink. They have a keg room with taps through the wall into the main area where it is served. It's cool being able to drink and talk to people in the actual brewing area. They also have food trucks set up out front that come on the open house days.
