AHA Rally in Raleigh NC last Sunday (5/31/15). Did anyone here happen to go?
I went. Lots of fun. Everyone got 5 gal of free Pale Ale wort direct from the hosting brewery's fermentor (Raleigh Brewing). Came at a good time since I'm between batches. If one comes to your area I highly recommend joining AHA if not a member and going!
:rockin:

I agree, it was fun. I originally went just to get the wort, why turn down a free batch of beer?! I was there much of the day before because my beer was on tap. I ended up staying for the home brew competition (free samples) and also the raffle. It was real fun and the home brew clubs that were there had some great information. I believe I ran into you actually.

The home brew was great. None of the beers I tried were bad, even the guy who brewed a kitchen sink hop IPA.

It was RBC's first Rally and I hope they do one each year. The free wort was RBC's gift and the AHA really had nothing to do with it. I came home and tossed in some S-04 just for kicks. What yeast did you end up using?

Missed it due to my softball league. Glad to hear that it went well though. Hopefully they do more of these in the area. Lots of great breweries nearby!

I was there the whole time too. The club from Greenville knew my brother amazingly enough. I thought the homebrew competition was great and I liked them all, but enjoyed the IPA the best by Scott. I guess I'm more of a grain-hop-yeast kinda guy.

Well, that was great of Patrick to give away free wort. I'll have to thank him next I see him. I split the batch and did one with US-05 because I had some as backup that I needed to use and Wyeast 1968, which I had planned to use for an upcoming batch in the other.

I tossed HBT into conversations whenever it fit in hopes to meet other HBT'ers, but no bites. I almost put the letters HBT in the corner of my name tag, but thought of it too late. Where did you think you bumped into me?

Patrick and Kristie ;) ... have you met her?
I wanted to be more adventurous with the wort, but by the time I got home and everything, I had just decided to pitch S04. Plus, it's a quick beer, obviously, that I can just get into a keg within about 10 days I bet. The AHA recipe says to dry hop with Columbus, I'm using whatever I have in the freezer.

Your name seemed familiar, I was all over the place but specifically, I think I recall perhaps running into you by the home brew club tables where D.E.A. was.

Thanks, I can never remember Kristie's name since I've not met her officially yet.

I've not decided if I'm going to dry hop both and with what. I have Mosaic, Galaxy, and Mandarina Bavaria hops on hand, so I'm thinking presently I may dry hop one with Mosaic and not dry hop the other. Or maybe maybe Columbus... :D

I get a bit overwhelmed in crowds, so I would have to go under hypnosis :cross: to remember what was going on around me at the DEA table. I would have liked to have met some local HBT folks there. There is always next time!:)
