Living out in no mans land AZ...We have well water, the well is 720 feet deep, we are drawing water at about 640 feet, the water table is at 580 feet. We have very salty water, with a fair amount of calcium and lime. Our landscaping gets white rings from irrigation. Most of my brews have turned out good, but would switching to bottled water be better? I have been using the water out of a filtered refrigerator water dispenser for the last couple of brews, with a definite difference from straight from the tap. I am wondering if other folks have noticed a difference in well/unfiltered vs well/filtered vs bottled water.....

I use spring water from the store then add gypsum to improve the hardness of the liquid and to get fuller body feeling. I instead would like to know if your beer using well water is better than the distilled water? I hear hard well water is better because it already has all of the minerals and salts in it. I am also assuming that you do not carbon filter or treat your water before it gets to the faucet.

The only way to really know is to get a water test done and see where your mineral concentrations are. But chances are since you are making good beer with the water you have, it is OK.

You will have unique beer!
I would think any regular filter will help with the larger minerals like calcium and lime, I use spring water because city water is full of chlorine and flouride and other things that I don't want in my beer.

I would rater have your problem :) besides I can't wait to find my own no mans land someday...
