I've surfed & surfed but can't find my answer... I'm going to make that Papazian AG weizenbock (recipe below) and it calls for wyeast 3638 bav wheat. my LHBS only stock WL. There's a chart comparing Wyeast to WL and I thought I kept the hotlink but I can't find it. WL has this Bavarian series, should I see about this one or anyone got that chart/suggestions for me?

Thanks

Thanks Cheyco. Added that to my fav's. Anyone else want to chime in if WLP300 would be the best alternative for this recipe would be appreciated :). Just kind of curious on that platinum WL one I guess.

You might want to see if the LHBS has any of the WLP-351 stll kicking around. It was the platinum strain for August. It's the same strain as Yeast Lab W51.

"Former Yeast Lab W51 yeast strain, acquired from Dan McConnell. The description originally used by Yeast Lab still fits: "This strain produces a classic German-style wheat beer, with moderately high, spicy, phenolic overtones reminiscent of cloves."

I'm a retard and didn't check your link! :D I would go with that instead of 300 if you can get it. I'm doing a hefeweizen with it tomorrow.

It did sound like the platinum one would be the better choice for the bock. Going to call them now...

Edit - already gone. WLP300 it is...

My LHBS didn't have any at the beginning of July when it was available, but last month I checked the rack and there it was, so I grabbed it. I'll post some comments in another thread when that brew is done. I'm doing the starter now.
