I hope this is the right place and not too dumb of a question. Doing a vanilla brown sugar stout for the holidays. I'm new to recipe formulation as well. I'm going to use molasses to get the brown sugar taste and not totally dry out the beer. The molasses is 6% of the bill. My question is:

Beersmith came with molasses preloaded as a grain. My recipe has the molasses expressed in ounces. Is this weight ounces or fluid ounces? Thanks for the help .

Might have to check with the recipe author...good question. Or check other recipes that use molasses and see if you can come up with a proper quantity.

I am the author lol Other recipes just list it as Oz as well. I will have to research further.

If you're using BeerSmith, that should be weight, not volume.
