Hey all. This is my first post here. I just bottled my first beer and noticed that I am missing 30% of a gallon from my 5 gallon brew. Is that normal evaporation during a boil?

Otherwise it's going fantastic. I brewed a hefeweizen and it's great. It tastes rich and refreshing and I can't wait till it's ready. I already ordered my second ingredient kit and am loving it.

Cheers
Matt

On a full boil, I usually start with about 7-7.25 gallons and end up with about 6 gallons. 6 gallons because I then transfer 5.5 to the fermentor and then keg/bottle 5 gallons on the button. So, yes totally normal to boil off a good bit.
