Is bottled spring water ok to use to brew a stout, or should I add anything to it. I know eventually I need to tackle water chemistry, but all I been really focusing on is technique since switching to AG. I have brewed 3 AG batches now and have just used bottled spring water. Thanks.

Spring water usually is pretty neutral pH and has plenty of minerals for yeast health. Stouts are easy because the dark grains help keep your mash/Sparge pH in ideal range (5.2-5.4). RHAHB.

I think spring water is too low in carbonate for stouts. Do you have brewing software like BeerSmith?
