washing yeast/cold crash

When your washing yeast from a cold crashed carboy at 38°F, should the gallon of boiled and cooled water be similar in temp to the yeast?
 
The yeast and the water being at the same temperature would be best. You could cool the water and let the yeast warm up.

Simpler to store the yeast under the beer that remains in the carboy though.
