Just wondering what % of posts do you view.
Up till recently I managed 95%

I just about clicked on every thread. Just the odd Lame one that I used to leave and hit forum read.

Now Alas I think that figure will go down to around 25%

I am currently in a Cert cycle at work (which means the testers are trying to break my program and I only have something to do when they succeed) so I am reading between 85-90% of the threads. Once we release this puppy and we move on to phase 2, I will actually have to do real work again so the percentage will probably drop quite a bit.

When I go back to school, it will be very low--between 5 and 10%. Right now I probably only read 50-60% due to a new baby and constructing an addition, which we are currently moving furniture into as it's finally done.:ban:

Use of dancing banana seemed appropriate in this case.

EDIT: I do actually see a lot of the "explosive" threads as they occur, I just choose not to participate in them.

Very small percent. I'll log on in the morning and see 4 pages. Read a few, do some work, come back and it only shows 5 threads as new.

Is this an estimate, or is there something on the forum that tells you what percentage you've read?

Most my HBT is done at work or while drinking later at night at home. When I'm busy @ work I only scan those that got the check box saying I replied. That's been much of '07 for me. Today, I don't feel like working so have been reading / replying to maybe 50% that seem of interest to me. Average though is probably 20-25%. Just too many to keep up with nowadays. I used to read 100%

I'll be honest, I'm prolly at 50%. I am selfish--I usually only click on topics that interest me.

I tend to pay more attention to the recipes/ingredients than anywhere else.

Jeezus, I get home from work, and there's like 175 new posts! I don't have time to read all that! I skim over the new posts, maybe hold my curser over the post so I can read the first part of it, and if it's interesting to me, I read it. I used to read a lot more of them, but there are 4x as many posts in a day as there used to be.........

same with me. when I get home, there's 7 or 8 pages of posts. some I'm not interested in, some I was interested in and have since lost interest, others I don't know the answer, and some I just don't care about.

Guesstimate.

Ah, well, I'd guesstimate my viewing at 5 to 10 % at best. You see, we're not supposed to be use the internet for personal use at work. At home, I'm on this forum, alt.smokers.pipes, and banjohangout.org. My wife says I'm on the computer too much already, soooooo, I limit them all just to topics that really look interesting to me.

I try to read all the beer and brewing topics, preview the topics looking for trouble and dive into things that interest me. But remember, the moderators are always watching, always watching, always watching....

I'm dong QA these days and we're in the beginning of the product cycle so I have spare time at work to spend on the forums. I still only hit about half of the posts. I tend to hit the ones that itnerest me or that I might be able to help with.

If only forum newbies realized that vauge topic titles drive traffic away.

I'm probably somewhere around 10%. I was reading a lot more earlier on, but now I usually just look for threads that I've already posted in, or that have a topic that catches my eye, or a post by something that I think might have something interesting to say. Hence, my response to this thread. :D

maybe 50% . . . I tend to only read stuff that looks interesting and if there are 5 or 6 replys that seem to say the same thing I skip it . . . I also tend to stick to lower reply count topics unless I'm really bored. . . or feel obligated to reply (like this thread . . .skipped it 3-4 times last night)
