Ventilation dilema

I'm brewing electric in my basement and so far i've used a diy squirrel cage fan to suck the moisure out. Now, that fan is dead and i'm broke. Do you guys think a cheap range hood would be sufficient ? It would be placed 6" above the kettle and 2 feet from the window.

I know they dont suck air at all but being so close to the window and kettle, i can't imagine why it would not work

It would be better than nothing.

I'd think a box fan would be better though. Make a cardboard frame around the box fan to "fit" the whole opening of the window so it can create some pressure. Leave a door somewhere else open and let the box fan pull right out the window.

I'm with Huff. It would be better than nothing, and I think you will find it works pretty good. Unless you are brewing constantly, a little moisture on stuff isn't too big a deal. It should dry out in no time.
