I'm in Philadelphia, have a small 2x8 plot of very rich soil on my bacy 'yard' (more of a patio). Decent exposure, with room to run lines for them to climb. Id like to have a plan in place once we're through with our winters, to plant. Please suggest some varietys that would thrive here? Like most, I'm an American Ale person, so a big fan of the NW hops.

If American Ales is your thing - stick with the four C"s - Cascade, Centennial,Chinook, Columbus. :mug:

Thats the avenue I was considering, just curious what others experience was growing hops here in the area.

SEPA used to be a major hop growing area until aphid and mildew problems drove the industry west. Imho, I would stick with newer hybrid varieties because they have better mildew resistance than the old nobles. Varieties with dark green leaves (like Chinook and Nugget) seem to have better resistance to pests, also. Cascade grows great but is more susceptible to spidermites. Hope this helps you out:D
