I am about to start creating my own recipes, and I haven't been able to find much information at all regarding what types of yeast work best with certain grains, hops, etc. Does anybody have any guidelines or any resources that can point me in the right direction?

Brewing Classic Styles has recipes for all styles of beer, and has liquid and dryyeast recommendations for each of them. Combine those recommendations with some research on the White Labs and Wyeast web sites, and you will have enough information to keep you busy for a long while. The liquid yeasts have much more informative descriptions than most dry yeasts, but if you find a recipe that calls for WLP002, WY1968, or S-04 for example, you can be pretty sure that all three yeasts are fairly similar.
