One thing I used to find tricky was to consistently hit my target volume for the end of the boil as a slight adjustment in my burner output can have a big impact on post-boil volume. Also, it's hard to get a good volume reading while the wort is boiling.

For my last few brews, I made sure I got accurate pre-boil volumes and refractometer readings and was then able to shoot for target refractometer readings at different time intervals during the boil and adjust the boil intensity accordingly. I ended up hitting my final volume perfectly.

Just thought I'd share. Anyone else do this?
