Using other bottles for wine?

I have a bunch of 750ml vodka bottles that had a screw cap. The top and inside ofthe neck are smooth and I was wondering if these would be suitable to use as wine bottles for a home stash?

I know I've read that wine bottles have thicker necks because of the pressure a cork puts on the bottle and that normal bottles could break. Wondering if anyone has actually run into this?

You try a few and I'll try a few...we'll meet back here after we're done. Sound like a plan? I'd say worst case scenario, use #8 Corks. They are not as tight.
