Just wondering if I can use a really old antique style capper to cap my bottles? I found it in the shed and it seems to work. It is a bench style capper as well and realllllyy rusty lol.

I don't see any issues with it. I use one that's pretty old, given to me by my good friend's stepdad when I was about 17 or so. He's a big time winemaker, but never brewed beer anymore, so he gave it to me.

I think the important thing is that it works. I'd maybe try and polish up the bell to keep from scratching the caps, and of course you *might* be interested in sandblasting it and repainting it if you aren't worried about ruining it's patina.

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would be interested in see pics of it, if you can.

Yeah,I'd like to see that myself. I guess it was my brother that got pop's capper & carboy. That thing should've been in a museum...

Not sure if it's an antique, but here's what I use. Wife brought it home from a garage sale. Works great. Gave away my wing capper.

That's a bit different then the one pop had. His was cast metal, but the lever type. It adjusted like the old bumper jack.
