Hi all,

quick question - i left some home brewed stout in the car this summer. it about 6 months old now but been really hot every day (upward of 35 celcius outside the car, possibly well into the 50s in the car) and i have parked in the sun throughout the summer. i was about to pour them out when curiosity kicked in. i had a small sip and it tasted perfect. smells fine. could it have been pasteurized?

I am thinking you are fine. The hops most likely are mellowed out some and for sure it is not the best way to store beer but if it tastes good drink up

thanks. i got a bit excited and anticipated a yes so already started. thank for the quick reply and telling me what i hoped to hear

i know its a drink best served cold, but my 1st stout and took it around around to have friends try.

tasted fine. in fact better than it did when it was younger. and the hangover? what hangover. i think i found the cure for everything bad.

is it true it cant make you sick? ive tasted an old beer from a micro and it was sour, i thought if i chucked it back it would give me some awful gastro.

Nope, nothing bad for you can live in beer. The pH is too low and the alcohol is too high for anything that wants to set up shop in the human body which has a pretty moderate pH and zero alcohol. Spoilage organisms that make the beer taste gross can live in beer, but they're not harmful to you.
