I have been busy since my introdution. Because my initial Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was running low, i got busy.. I have built a wort chiller, works good.

I found a simple enough looking recipe called wild dog days of summer ale....However, when i went to purchase the ingredients, most were not available at the outlet closest to home. sooooo i, with my limited knowledge, and with the help of a clerk that may know less than me... made some substitutions. On 5/23 i brewed... Rest of story: after much worry and fretting and a few phone calls to fellow brewers i can say that i am very happy with the results. it has been bottled since 6/10 and is very enjoyable. My wife has given it the thumbs up also.

On 5/31 i brewed an Irish stout from a kit. i was not able to find a recipe that sounded doable for a noob like me. I bottled the Stout on 6/16. I chilled and drank my first bottle tonight (6/29). I am very pleased with the flavor and carbonation seems just about right. where i failed.... my OG was way lower than advertized. it came in at 1.038 (should have been 1.060-1.070) not sure what might have gone wrong??? i do not think the abv is very high, but still very enjoyable....

Planning to do a "fruity ale" for the girls in my life....(of age) three daughters and three daughters-in-law plus the wife... any suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to stay partial mash for a bit but hope to get into AG soon....

Cheers:
