I just received a ThermoWorks Mini thermocouple and would like some suggestions on what type or types of "K" style of probes would be the most useful to buy for it? I do mostly All grain brewing if that helps any.

I guess it could also be looked at as ...what type of probe does everyone that has on of these use?

Thanks,
Blindguardian

This is what I have Here and I am wanting suggestions from fellow brewers that use this one on what type or types of probes to buy for it.

Ahhh I see. Normally that would be called a reader, and the probe that plugs in is called the thermocouple. Many times, multiple thermocouples hook into a single reader.

Anyway, I have seen this one here a bunch of times before so hopefully some people will have good advice for you.

:mug:

I also find the 113-167 (http://www.thermoworks.com/products/probe/tc_penetration.html) to be useful. The wire probes can take a long time to reach a stable reading. The metal ones settle down much faster. The wire probes are great for leaving in place (mash tuns, erlynmeyer flasks for starters, etc.) and the metal ones for quick reads (sparge water, mostly).

I also use mine for cooking and have found the 113-159 to be very useful -- very fast read, and leaves only smallish holes.

You already have the unit but didn't order the k probe with it? Wont you be paying shipping twice? Well this is the one I use 113-372-T I replaced the one that came with my unit .

I have this thermocouple Coleparmer

The old probe just went bad. I thought it was the unit but I tried another k probe that I had and it worked fine.

Kilted Brewer, thanks that looks like one I might pick up.

Mikfire, that one (113-167) will go on the list also. Thanks.

springer, I did not purchase mine from a store or online, I found it at trade day in my area for $5 and yes I did get a probe for it at the same time for $2 (113-151 --meat probe). thanks for your input also.

Anyone else use anything different with theirs for there brewing process?

thanks,
Blindguardian
