Two Broken Carboys IIPA

Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: NB Neobrittania
Yeast Starter: 1.5 liter
Batch Size: 5.5gal
Original Gravity: 1.082
Final Gravity: 1.020
ABV: 8.2
IBU: 75
Boiling Time: 60min
Color: 8-15
Primary Fermentation (# of days): 21
Tasting Notes: A hop forward northwest style IIPA showing how well Cascade and Citra work together. Heavy citrus and grapefruit aroma leaves malt in background and hides ABV well. Enjoy.

Acid rest @108deg f for 20min. Saccharification rest @152deg f for 60min. Dryhop after primary fermentation is complete. I used 80% efficiency-adjust accordingly.

Sounds delicious.

So what's the story behind the name?

I am assuming he had to break two carboys open to get the beer out when he shoved whole grapefruit into them before. This way, the hops provide the citrus flavor.

If I'm wrong, I'd be surprised. [/super funny sarcasm]

HAHAH...the day I designed and brewed this was the day I lost 10 gallons of beer, two 6gal glass carboys and about 6 hours of labor! I was getting ready to transfer the beer to kegs and had both glass carboys sitting on top of a table. The adjustable push button style leg broke and yea you know the rest. Just as this happens my 60minute mash timer goes off. 1 carboy per table now!
