I had a custom Trub Ring similar to the TrubTrapper made for me by Chad at ArborFab. If you're not familiar with the TrubTrapper, check it out here. The TrubTrapper sells for $50 plus shipping & handling. Chad made this for me for $50 with shipping included. I'm selling it for $40 shipped.
It's only been used 2x. For my brewing method, it doesn't work as I had hoped, mainly because of my pot design and because I used it after I had already chilled. For me, I would put it in sanitizer & drop it into my kettle and stir with a spoon. It worked really well to capture & contain the trub, but my problem was the stepped side of the my Blichmann pot. Because I was stirring in a pot with a stepped side, it ended up sitting partially on the step & partially on the bottom.
This is best for a pot without a stepped side or for someone that puts it in pre-chill and let's a pump do their whirlpooling for them.
You can see from the pics that it's 7.5" in diameter and 3" tall. This is small enough to fit inside most chillers during whirlpooling. For those interested in a "real world test," here's a link to my YouTube channel where you can see it in action. There are a few links below to various times throughout the video where I talk about it and show it being used.
